Night Scene @ Penang Hill

Penang Hill

Penang Hill is a hill resort comprising a group of peaks, the major hill system of Penang, Malaysia. It is located six kilometers from the city centre of George Town. It stands out prominently from the lowlands as a hilly and forested area. Penang Hill is also known by its Malay name Bukit Bendera (Flag Hill).

The most convenient way up to Penang Hill is by means of the Penang Hill Railway, a funicular railway in Air Itam. Construction of the railway took place between 1906 to 1923, at a cost of RM1.5 million. The railway was opened to the public on October 21, 1923. The 2,007 m (1 mile 435 yard) journey takes about half an hour and the train may stop at intermediate stations upon request.

KLCC Aquaria - An Ocean of Discovery

Photo taken on 19 February 2007. See more on http://mycutialbum.blogspot.com or http://mycuti.blogspot.com

Highlights

Aquaria KLCC is conceptualized & built based on the Journey of water from land to sea.
Embark on a journey from misty mountains down majestic rivers, through lush rainforests and waterlogged mangroves. Dive deeper to navigate through colorful coral reefs and dive head on into the ominous deep blue sea.

Underwater Tunnel

Here, visitors reach the climax of the ‘Journey’. On a moving walkway inside the 90m acrylic tunnel, a view only previously accessible to divers venturing into the depths of the brilliant ocean is presented. Visitors will be awed by trained divers and aquarists hand-feeding the fish, including rays and large sharks. A hidden shipwreck is seen slowly being colonized by inquisitive reef inhabitants, gradually becoming part of the coral reef.

How To Get Here ?

Map of Aquaria KLCC with Legend

• 10 minutes walk from the Petronas Twin Towers
• 5 minutes walk from Suria KLCC connecting tunnel
• 8 km from KL Sentral Station, 80 km from KLIA International Airport

Koi Fish aka Carp Fish

What are Koi?

The common carp is the forerunner of our present day Koi. Koi are not big goldfish. The goldfish is a distant cousin to Koi.

Where did they come from?

The Japanese name for Koi is Nishikigoi. Nishikigoi were developed by the Japanese over 200 years ago.

Where do you keep these fish?

These gorgeous creatures usually live in lushly landscaped fish ponds outdoors. The ponds are constructed to provide adequate oxygenation and filtration of the water. These ponds make an excellent landscaping addition to a garden.

How big do they get?

The average Koi can grow to 24 - 36 inches! The size of the pond, the amount of aeration, and feeding methods will affect the growth of the fish. It is not uncommon for a small Koi to grow 2 - 4 inches a year in a backyard pond.
